Description of Project

The City of Glendale is seeking to obtain the services of a well-qualified firm or team of firms, specializing in environmental planning, traffic analysis, civil/structural engineering, and urban design, to study and develop the road and transportation network surrounding Space 134 as it passes through downtown Glendale. Focusing on roadway design and traffic analysis, this project will study the complex relationship between the Space 134 Cap Park; the 134 Freeway; the city's street, bicycle, pedestrian, and bus network; and a number of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route alternatives currently being studied by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro).

The end product will be a final report that describes and illustrates a preferred transportation network, including freeway lanes, freeway on- and off-ramps, the City’s surrounding surface streets, and Metro’s proposed BRT facilities; summarizes the impacts of the preferred transportation network on traffic; proposes a conceptual construction schedule and describes potential construction staging considerations and scenarios; and provides an engineering cost estimate. The final alternative generated as a part of this Phase 3 work will be the project description for a Program EIR to be conducted in a future Phase 4.
